The Perfect Storm

Today we have the perfect storm. Foreclosures are at an all time high, interest rates remain relatively low until elections, and emerging markets are constantly evolving. According to Foreclosure.com, foreclosures are at a 20 year high.  That means you can pick up properties 20% to 70% market value.  Imagine getting into properties pennies on the dollar, and reaping the benefits of massive appreciation offered by emerging markets.  Rapidly growing economies always occur, even while other markets are in decline.

Short sales are a great way to take advantage of this economy, but why bother with all the hassles that come with it? It’s time consuming, stressful, and sometimes a complete waste of time. Why not deal directly with the bank foreclosures already on the books? Each week, new inventory is added. 

Since the 1980’s real estate investing has evolved, but many of the gurus still teach you just how to get into the property with no money down or flipping. There is nothing wrong with No Money Down strategies or flipping for profit. In fact, I highly recommend them for the right time and place!

Only in America!

Buy two houses. Live in one, and rent the other.

As a proud American, I have made an observation: most Americans do not fully realize the benefits that are available to them, but most foreigners do. 

We are conditioned to work the 40 year plan, while foreigners risk certain death to come to America to reap all the benefits.  They will come by boat, plane, or through a fence to get here. Maybe we should pretend that we came from a third world country without the creature comforts of cars, houses, and cable TV.  Maybe we should pretend that there is no running hot water.  

Don't get me wrong, there is no place I would rather be than the good old USA!  As a veteran of the first Gulf War, I am as patriotic as they come.  I know that America has many challenges to overcome, but I love it nonetheless.  But as Americans we owe it to ourselves and our families to get educated on the benefits and rewards many have bought and paid for with their lives.  The freedom to enterprise and own real estate!

The Free Enterprise system created and exported throughout the world is only helping a few, not the many.  Many complain about the 2% of the truly wealthy people in this country, but rarely figure out what they do to get there.  That is because we as individuals do not avail ourselves to these ideas and concepts that are free for the asking.

As Jim Rohn puts it, many of us spend more money on the outside of our heads than inside our heads.  Our libraries are empty, and so are most of our pockets.  Part of the American Dream is to own your own home, and own your own business.  Neither is mutually exclusively.  Why not have both?
